What a lot of rain we have had over the last week. Yesterday a young family took a stroll over the bridge near the Weir Primary School, and were shocked to see a massive barra tumble over the Weir wall. There were many onlookers, and as the barra came over the wall it fell into some shallow water below and was trapped by some rocks. A couple of guys standing by retreived the barra from the rocks and lay it on the grass. One of them lay beside it whilst his mate took some photos, and apparently it was almost 2/3rds his size. They did the right thing and release it back into the water, but what an amazing site to see such a huge barramundi slide down the weir wall. When barra season opens on Feb 1st, that will be a hotspot to be fishing.
Here's a pic of Jordan with a barra that he caught at Black's Weir in the wet season at the beginning of last year.
