A fishing trip to the Channel Markers

A three hour fishing trip with my wife Lyn, was very productive with some nice grunter and mackerel to over 60cm. We left the coast guard boat ramp at around 9 oclock and headed out towards the channel markers, finding a large school of bait around 400 metres from the first tripod towards Magnet Island. The sounder showed a hard bottom with a bait ball and other fish around it.

I throw in some berley and we used pilchards for bait. The fish started to hit the pilchards almost straight away and we spent about an hour and a half of great fishing. The grunter and mackerel put up a great fight on the light gear we were using and we were back to the boat ramp by 12 oclock.

Lyn with some of the fish she caught.

A New Year 2011

Hi and welcome to all, our year is starting off with a lot of activity. Our summer comp is almost over and we can not wait to see all those fish you have been catching over the break. The sign on day is on the 29 January starting at 10am at the baptist church, we will announce the winners of the summer comp and give out prizes. We will provide morning tea and have a lucky door prize for those present. If you are thinking of becoming a member come along and check us out, we will be able to answer your questions and tell or show you some great places to fish, in this part of the world we call Paradise. We look forward to seeing our past members as well and catchup with some of your stories of things that happened over the break. With all the rain we have had I think we my be in for a few bumper seasons of fishing. Lyn and I have only been out a couple of times catching some nice grunter and mackerel.
